Jason Merry Graphic and web designer

This site is an organic entity

It will grow, expand and develop.

With a constant influx of creative ideas I hope you you'll find this site as interesting as I do.

My first CSS file is going to be a typographic exploration. Using only basic fonts, sizes and colors to give you a, hopefully, beautiful view.

If you find this site with this paragraph, you know its a work in progress being updated regularly so don't dispair, all will be good in time.

Question of the monent
Why does IE6 exist?
Answer
To test the skills of a truely forgiving and patient CSS artist

A little bit about me, Jason Merry

I have been a web designer in the e-commerce industry for 9 years. I have been through the drastic days of using tables to the now fantastic days of CSS/XHTML.

I currently work for The Book Depository as a Senior XHTML/CSS developer. 2 years of pure bliss. Not many can say that.

I am constantly thinking creatively, creating new objects, products, ideas and new methods on how to do things, mainly on paper. I am storing them all up!

Currently I am in the throws of designing and going to build a custom bycicle. Checkout Atomic Zombie for a taster of what I am going to be creating. !Think chopper!.

I want to get a better understanding of PHP, MySQL and JavaScript. These are my three main coding targets for now.

If you want to search for any books with Free worldwide delivery try the Book Depository with this search box:

Show off my skills
Purely that. www.csszengarden.com is a fantastic display of CSS design skill. I am planning something similar for this site. When I finally have a different style sheet you'll be able to choose it or them.

UPDATE (01-12-2009): Still haven't done anything yet!
Too busy with my full time job at The Book Depository. We have Free worldwide delivery on all our books, over 2 million available titles, including free eBooks. Try it you will be amazed at what we can offer.

I did all the css for this but not the design sadly. UPDATE (29-06-2010): Just changed some text and added a few other SEO things.
Removed some of the aims I haven't even attempted. Want to concentrate on the ones thta are working.

Create my portfolio part fo the site
Besides this site being about my CSS/XHTML skills, Obviously Graphic designn work needs to be here too.

SEO of my name and other words
I want to see how high up Google I can get with Jason Merry, graphic design, web design and CSS, plus any other words I want to have a stab at. Having implimented these skills in my career I thought it was about time to do the same with myself.

UPDATE (21-05-2009): I am top of Google with my name!
I haven't even got all the right triggers in my site yet either. How cool is that. UPDATE (29-06-2010): Still top of Google
I am now trying to get The Book Depository with this site as close to the top without knocking the real site off the top. So tempting but that would be bad wouldn't it?

This is just an experiment of my own to test my SEO skills. Will I manage it? We shall have to see. If it gets to the top, the test will be knocking myself down again. That could be the tricky bit I reckon.

Make this site as good as can be
Together with my Graphic and Web design skills in CSS, SEO useability and accessibility there is no reason why this site can't conform to the best W3C standards. The ultimate website classification standard for pureness on the internet. To give you an idea of that achievemnt not a lot people conform to priority 1!

Disclamer

You may find the occassional seplling mistake and amount of bad gramer but I can blame that on being a Designer (It's a common flaw). So if you see don't any worry about them.

The content of any site I link to may not be anything to do with me unless otherwise stated. Enjoy them at your own pleasure or disgust.

The work displayed on this site is mine unless otherwise stated. If you copy or use it you do so at your own risk but please tell everyone where you got it from, it's only fair.
