It will grow, expand and develop.
With a constant influx of creative ideas I hope you you'll find this site as interesting as I do.
My first CSS file is going to be a typographic exploration. Using only basic fonts, sizes and colors to give you a, hopefully, beautiful view.
If you find this site with this paragraph, you know its a work in progress being updated regularly so don't dispair, all will be good in time.
I have been a web designer in the e-commerce industry for 8 years. I have designed websites through the drastic days of using tables for layout to the now fantastic days of CSS.
I am constantly thinking creatively, creating new objects, products, ideas and new methods on how to do things.
Forever having the luxury of being able to intergrated my work into the backbones of sites (in those jobs I have loved), it's now time for me to try the backbones.
I want to get a better understanding of PHP, MySQL and JavaScript. These are my three main coding targets for now. I can make my site do anything I want, I just need to work out what it is I want to do with it. What experiments should I do?
So, let the fun begin...
Show off my webdesign skills
Purely that. www.csszengarden.com is a fantastic display of CSS design skill. I want to do that to my site. When I finally have a different style sheet to choose from I'll let you know.
Expose my graphic design work
Obviously having a portfolio is a key part of being a Graphic/Web/CSS designer, but it's the things I do in my own time I want to put here as well. One of my hobbies I guess is doodles. I constantly doodle. So much so that I have about 3 containers I have kept and collected over the last 6-7 years. Watch this space for the doodle page.
An image gallery
This is one you're not going to see as I am setting it up for myself and select family and friends. I know image gallery sites already exist but I want my own little space that I can control and create. Plus earning how to make one.
My hole
A facebookish thing. I want to see if I can do it form scratch much like the real thing. I am hoping this will be the real challenge for me to learn LAMP. Boy oh boy this one will be fun.
SEO of my name and other words
I want to see how high up Google I can get with Jason Merry, graphic design, web design and CSS, plus any other words I want to have a stab at. Having implimented these skills in my career I thought it was about time to do the same with myself.
UPDATE: I am top of Google with my name! (21-05-2009).
I haven't even got all the right triggers in my site yet either. How cool is that.
Make this site as good as can be
Together with my Graphic and Web design skills in CSS, SEO useability and accessibility there is no reason why this site can't conform to the best W3C standards. The ultimate website classification standard for pureness on the internet. To give you an idea of that achievemnt not a lot people conform to priority 1!
You may find the occassional seplling mistake and amount of bad gramer but I can blame that on being a Designer. It seems to be a common flaw brought on by the urge and desire to create so fast that my brain goes too fast for my fingers. So if you see don't any worry about them.
